Polite Provisions

When approached by our client with the concept of a 1930’s soda fountain bar in San Diego’s University Heights neighborhood, BASILE immediately went to work on repairing the site’s neglected structure. After peeling back layers of woodwork, an entirely new building was created within the framework of the 1920s-era home underneath. The façade was transformed with floor-to-ceiling brass and steel windows bringing welcome light into the space. Numerous bespoke details lend themselves to its vintage vibe, including oak wood wainscotting accented with gold medallions and sculptured candelabra columns sandblasted to their original casted brass. The 100-foot marble bar is lined with cast iron, velvet-cushioned stools and topped with BASILE built glass and mirrored Lazy Susans. Behind it a massive, state-of-the-art 46-tap system serves a plethora of spirits. Through the use of timeless materials and a strong urban aesthetic, BASILE created an award-winning corner bar.
