Cowboy Star Restaurant & Butcher Shop
When Cowboy Star Restaurant & Butcher Shop enlisted Basile Studio for a redesign, it was a homecoming of sorts, as the chophouse’s building formerly accommodated Basile’s original design workshop in the East Village. The design rehaul of this neighborhood favorite included an expanded entry, courtesy of a 12-foot steel and glass door with an oversized steel spur logo, along with an eat-up butcher counter with butcher block countertops, a leather-wrapped custom hostess stand and a 50-foot, U-shaped build featuring a copper bar top with engraved wood inlays that function as cell phone power stations. A cantilevered liquor shelf system both maximizes storage space and entertains diners as the baskets of booze bow down to the bartenders below. Additional details include a custom, hand-welded foot rail with horseshoe detailing, manual dimmer lights for menu reading, and a handsome wine closet where bottles rest in hand-stitched leather hammocks.
