When we dreamed up this boutique bottle shop and hidden cocktail bar in the Westfield UTC shopping mall in San Diego, we wanted to transport guests to Paris or London in the early 1900s. Stained-glass, brass wolf heads, vintage street lanterns, and hand painted French country murals welcome guests, who then discover a secret door inside, behind a fireplace façade, which spins (thanks to a rotating car carousel) into a library cocktail lounge that sits under a massive stained-glass gazebo structure with LED lighting mimicking sunrise to sunset. Libations are served at a 22-foot round African Gold marble bar, which is surrounded by “claw and ball” bar stools imported from London. Even the powder room transports guests into a dreamy, otherworldly landscape with its fiber optic ceiling that emulates the celestial night sky.
