Plan Check

At Plan Check in Downtown Los Angeles, BASILE derived its design from the city itself. The interior space features steel tubing with ambient halogen hung from a concrete ceiling made to resemble the Los Angeles freeways. Locally sourced “1” steel road plates, originally used to span ditches during road construction and still carry the scars of vehicular wear & tear, were crafted into unexpected bar tops with natural scarring. The back bar, made from steel I-beams and pre-finished Baltic Birch plywood with LED back lighting, features custom bottle holders and glass shelving. Cinderblock walls separate the bar from dining areas, with BASILE-conceived architect compass logo adorning metal plates spaced throughout patio windows, entry and door handles. Custom glass and steel windows, operated by a remote electronic actuator switch, tilt the windows onto the bustling Wilshire Boulevard, creating an open-air feel to this burger bar.
